Good morning everyone! I was off on Friday on a little family getaway to San Diego - some wild animals, a ton of pool time and several cocktails made for a great weekend. I came home to a full mailbox and was happy to discover several gorgeous wedding invitations amidst the credit card offers and junk mailers. June is the beginning of the summer wedding season - balmy nights with daylight that stretches till almost 9, warm ocean breezes, and a crop of dazzling floral options are just a few of the things that make summer weddings special here in California. While I'm still out looking for the perfect dress to wear to several upcoming nuptials, I thought I would share something special and dear to my heart with you today - my lovely sister Alison's wedding, which is currently being featured on Martha Stewart Weddings.

She got married in June of last year at Sea Ranch, a serene seaside community several hours north of San Francisco. To say the wedding was breathtaking would be an understatement - the Pacific Ocean just after a storm, deer frolicking in front of the lodge during cocktail hour, wildflowers in full bloom, farmhouse tables, ocean breezes, vintage silverware, and the love of family and friends made for a spectacular occasion. The photos also tell the story of the many, many details that both my sister and her husband Ben spent months conceptualizing and then making a reality. From handmade pottery made for the occasion to menus inspired by those at Chez Panisse and maps beautifully illustrated by my sister's dear friend from college, it was perfectly put together, but so easy and casual. "Simply lovely" are probably the two best words to describe both Ali and Ben and that special day in June.

Whoa, you're famous by association now! Congrats to your sister for being featured on MSW. That's pretty nifty, and her wedding just looked beautiful. Simply lovely, indeed. Love the wildflower arrangements on the table. Love that old barn. It's so funny that June becomes wedding season for you guys on the west coast. Here, wedding season pretty much ENDS in early June because it's just too hot and humid to have them! It picks up again after Labor Day, and then runs anytime through May. May is the busiest. We have such a small window of bearable weather here! It's either freezing with 5 inches of snow on the ground or it's boiling at 110 degrees. Sigh.
Thank you for the wedding inspiration! I'm off to read your sister's feature, now :) xo
that wedding is gorgeous! all of it just looks perfect. glad to hear you had a relaxing weekend. summer weather has finally hit the beach! happy monday! Teri
Wow, that is so cool. Going to check them out now ...
OH, Jennifer, this wedding is stunning! I love every last detail. The stationery and calligraphy are so lovely. Menu cards inspired by Chez Panisse? Nice! I bet this was such a special event for your sister and your whole family. It really looks magical. You must be beaming for your sister right now. ;) I cannot wait to see your sister's wedding in the actual magazine. Getting my hands on that issue, stat.
PS~I saw your pretty, smiling face in one of the photos.
Gosh, what a beautiful wedding and brilliant that it's featured in MS, what a credit! Those little touches, the casual, yet sophisticated feel - lovely :-)
