Nurture Your Home - Treasure Trove: The Best Of Urban Outfitters

Ziggy Chair (comes in 6 colors), $279, urbanoutfitter.com.

I've loved Urban since my undergrad days and it carried my girlfriends and I through our early 20's with great, on-trend pieces, most under $100. These days, I don't visit as often, and when I do I'm a little intimidated to rub shoulders with all the tweens and twenty-something college girls who might be saying, "She's like a mom. What is she doing here?" Every now and again I pick up some casual cotton tops or cute summer dresses, but the home section I remember consists of dorm room pink shag carpets and lava lamps. So when I asked a friend with an incredibly chic home where she got a lovely occasional chair and she replied by saying, "Urban Outfitters," I was stunned. Really? After some investigative work, I discovered that not only do they have a large home section on their website, there are lots of gems hiding amongst the tapestries and paper lanterns.  Here are just some of the diamonds in the rough!

Ava Tufted Sleeper Sofa, $699, urbanoutfitters.com.
It doesn't get much chicer than tufted velvet sofas and this one has rave reviews from all those who have purchased it.  In addition to the beautiful upholstery and tufting details, the back folds down to convert it to a sleeper sofa. So much better than the sad IKEA couch we had on the list for our office space!

Mid-century Rocker Chair, $289, urbanoutfitters.com.

If you are in the market for a rocker or know someone who is, this is a great, wallet friendly option. I've seen almost identical mid-century rockers for 10 times as much. It's a perfect fit for a room that gets a lot of traffic and wear and tear from children like a nursery or playroom.

Airplane Hook, $12; Branch Hook, Set of 2, $20, urbanoutfitters.com.

I spent last night wandering my house, determined to find a place for these airplane hooks. The finish and design gives it a vintage look with just the right amount of playfulness thrown in. I will find a home for them, even if it is inside one of our closets!

Zigzag Printed Rug, (comes in 7 colors) 3x5: $39, 5x7: $74, urbanoutfitters.com.

If you've been reading this blog for the last several months, you know I heart anything with a pattern - geometric, art deco, ikat - love them all! Chevron prints are a stand out because they make a statement without drowning out everything else in a room. Although I dream about the Madeline Weinrib version, this rug does the trick and I won't freak out when my daughter spills a juice box all over it.

Bathtub Soap Dish, $12, urbanoutfitters.com.

Sweet, thoughtful touches are part of what makes a house a home and I couldn't pass up this unusual and beautifully designed soap dish. I've never seen anything like it and I know it will delight all the guests who visit our bathroom sink.

Pendleton Oversized Jacquard Bath Towel in Big Thunder, $48, urbanoutfitters.com.

Pendleton, best known for their substantial and durable wool coats and blankets recently collaborated with UO on several different bath linens and the result is spectacular.  On trend with the Navajo inspired looks that are everywhere right now, add these bath towels with some monochromatic hand towels to give your bathroom an easy update.

Marrakesh Honey Wallpaper, $98 per roll, urbanoutfitters.com.

One of my recent searches for wallpaper (I've been on the hunt for several months now) turned up this beautiful Moroccan inspired piece. The shimmer in the gold gives it a luxe feel and the turquoise color may be just the pop of color you need. This would work best in a small space like an entry way or maybe a powder room or bathroom.

Ruffle Laundry Bag, $39, Framed Alice Rabbit Wall Art, 5 x 7, $18, urbanoutfitters.com.

While gathering inspiration for my daughter's new bedroom, these two pieces caught my eye. With a Parisian chic theme, the ruffle laundry bag is reminiscent of a delicately layered chiffon dress. The framed vintage print of the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland will be a great addition to the collage I'm building in the playroom. In fact, UO recently teamed up with Society 6, an international artist community representing more than 80 countries and has established a new section on their website called The Print Shop with tons of options for your wall decor.

I know right?!! If you read the reviews, everyone who has ordered it says it is as amazing as it looks.

Fortunately my son is in college so when I walk him with him I AM a mom! but no one looks at me like I don't belong! I am loving their home department too. They usually have really fun and reasonable lamps as well. I think I'm picking the chevron rug and that wallpaper as my favorites from your list above. Nice curating!

Love that Ann! I'll have to check out their lighting section. I honestly never even go into that area of the store at our local one (Fashion Island). Thank you so much for stopping by!

I almost purchased that zig-zag rug for my daughter's room. I have to say, you can't beat the prices. I think mixing high and low pieces is a great way to decorate. I agree with Ann, nice curating. Have a great weekend, J!

This is a gorgeous sofa, BUT BEWARE of ordering from UO. They are a HORRIBLE sompany. Terrible to work with. They DO NOT care about their customers. And the only reason you see mostly good reviews on this sofa is because UO will not post negetive reviews that tell the truth about the company. I ordered this sofa and it came 4 weeks later than they indicated to me. I waited over THREE months! AND they cancelled my first order because i dared to email them and ask about a new date being they stopped informing me that it was backordered for the 4th time. They outright lied to me that it was "no longer available" even though you could still order it on the website. I tried to post a review on UO site for the sofa, and they refuse to post it. So obviously they don't post all the reviews written. And there was nothing absurd, foul language, anger in my review. Just the truth. Bottom line is this is NOT worth giving this company your $$ when they think they're so high up on the food chain that they can completely disregard their customers. SUPER unhappy with the entire process, don't waste you time!!!
