Nurture Your Home - Beautiful Art at 20 x 200

I've loved contemporary art since my early 20's, when a former boss who also has one of the most comprehensive contemporary art collections in the U.S. took me to an auction at Christie's in New York.  I saw the most amazing work by people like Man Ray, Damien Hirst, Robert Rauschenberg, Donald Judd, and hundreds more and it truly changed my life.  I've always dreamed of one day having a home filled with pieces by the artists I love.  While I still hope to wake up to a Cindy Sherman above our bed, we have managed to fill our home with beautiful art and photography we love that is also AFFORDABLE.  One resource I really like is the site 20 x 200.  Their specific mission is to provide a gallery where "almost any art lover can be an art collector."  They introduce two new editions a week - one photograph and one work on paper, usually in four sizes: 8x10 ($20), 11x14 ($50), 16x20 ($200), and 24x30 ($500).  There are literally hundreds of exceptional pieces to choose from, but you have to act fast when you see something you like, because all the editions are limited and they tend to sell out fast.

My most recent purchase was this drawing of a fashion book shelf by Jane Mount.  I loved the vibrant colors, the choice of books and the illustration is gorgeous.  It's hanging right at the entrance to my closet and it makes me smile every time I walk by!  Here is a sampling of some incredible pieces that are currently available. Which one is your favorite?

Let's Party by Jessica Craig-Martin is at the same time chic, girly and a total mess.  Can anyone relate?

Wintourfeld by Don Oehl caught by eye immediately.  They are a natural pair and I love them both in their signature sunglasses!

Nice Pants by Landon Nordeman has such bright colors and those men are taking a BIG risk.  How could it not bring a little joy to your life?

I just really like the sentiment and the way it is presented in Can You Imagine by Trey Speegle.

I have a thing for owls and I was thinking this would be perfect in my daughters room.  Dapper Owl by Don Carney

For all the baseball fans out there, this is a beautiful photo that speaks a thousand words.  Mobius by Don Hamerman

San Francisco is a special place for my husband and I because it is where we met and started dating.  I remember smiling whenever I saw a trolley car go by and this would be a great reminder of our time spent there.

This is a map of Los Angeles, redone with incredible colors.  prettymaps (la) by Aaron Straup Cope

This photo reminds me of Andreas Gursky, one of my favorite photographers.  Houndstooth Pattern In Parking Lot, at Disney World, FL by Alex MacLean

For a beach house or the surfer in your life. Untitled #9 by Matthew Tischler

I love the juxtaposition between the hat box and the canister of gasoline - thought provoking!  Untitled #6 by Jessica Bruah

On occasion, the site will also have limited editions done by "celebrity" artists.  This is a recent piece David Bowie did of Iman.  It sold out quickly, but subscribe to their email and you will get notifications when new editions are available each week.  Now there is no excuse for your walls to stay bare!!
