Over the last couple months, I've been obsessively looking for wallpaper for three rooms in my house - 2 bathrooms and my daughter's playroom.  If you had told my 20 year-old self I'd be wanting to line my home with wallpaper in 10 years, I never would have believed you. But wallpaper is back in a BIG way and if you are like me, you don't have time to spend your days and weekends traipsing around from store to store looking for the perfect print. I was ecstatic to discover that there are many great online resources for wallpaper and for only a few dollars, you can have samples sent directly to your home.  You'll definitely be seeing some more wallpaper here on this blog in 2012, but to start, I'd like to share several of my favorite sites with you:

York Wallpaper

York Wallcoverings has one of the most comprehensive catalogs, but its site can be a little overwhelming with about a hundred books to look through, each with about 30 wallpaper options.  Instead, use the handy search tool where you can choose both primary and secondary colors and then pick whatever category fits your design scheme - geometric, floral, contemporary, etc. The samples I ordered arrived 3 days later and were all a very generous size (compared to the rest of the retailers), making it easy to visualize what it will look like on your wall.  If you find something you like, you will need to find a retailer nearby (they don't sell directly to the customer online), but it is simple to do by using the Find A Retailer tool on their website.  I would also call around and get a couple quotes from the people in your area since prices can vary from retailer to retailer.  Here are a few of my favorites from York:

Wallpaper Direct

This British website ships to the U.S. and also has a quick turn-around time with samples (the ones I ordered came in less than a week!).  They also will send you two samples for free with a $3.95 shipping charge.  In addition to their large selection, they carry a number of European companies that are only available to the trade here in the States.  I loved everything I received from them, but there is one disclaimer: because of their contracts with certain brands, some designs on the site cannot ship to the U.S. I was initially looking for the Cole and Son Woods wallpaper, which they carry for only $77.87 per roll (vs. $198 at Anthropologie), but when I tried to check out, I was notified they were unable to ship it to the U.S. C'est la vie.  Here are a few great papers that can make the trip across the pond:

Graham and Brown

Another great resource, Graham and Brown is an English company that carries several lines designed by interior designers Amy Butler, Marcel Wanders, and Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen.  I also thought their Damask selection was particularly strong. All their wallpapers have photos of multiple rooms so you can get a feel for the depth and scale of the designs.  Their inventory is manageable and their site makes it easy to search by color or genre.

Walnut Walpaper

Probably the coolest and most contemporary wallpaper outlet I found, this L.A. based retailer carries sophisticated yet playful papers.  From the whimsical and bright to the subdued and chic, spending just a few minutes browsing Walnut Wallpaper's site is guaranteed to get your creative juices flowing.  If you are looking for wallpaper with an animal scheme (think children's rooms or maybe a bathroom), this is the place to start your search - their selection is well-curated and widely varied.  Although a many of the papers they carry can run upwards of $400 a roll, they have a good selection of options for less than $200 a roll.  If you live here in L.A., you can visit their store on Beverly Blvd, which I've heard is an awesome experience!
